Through SBS’s commissioned content, news and current affairs and radio language programs, SBS continued to tell stories which explore and celebrate Australia’s diverse multicultural society. Highlights included:

  • A series of commissioned dramas and documentaries, such as Australia in Colour and On The Ropes, that explored Australia’s history, social issues, and ongoing evolution in a multicultural world, encouraging national reflection and debate.
  • 98 per cent of SBS radio programming was broadcast in languages other than English (LOTE). SBS had 68 language services in 2018-19, including new languages such as Mongolian, Tibetan, Hakha Chin and Rohingya.

As always, SBS continued to bring the best culturally and linguistically diverse content from across the world to Australian audiences, across all of our platforms.
