5.3 Work health and safety

The Agency acknowledges its responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act), the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and anti–discrimination legislation. The Agency takes all reasonably practicable measures to protect the health, safety and welfare of its workers while at work, including providing a safe work environment. The Agency Work Health and Safety Policy, and Health and Safety Management Arrangements 2020–2022 promote consultation, prevention and early intervention, and are aligned with a steadfast commitment to safeguard and value Agency employees. In 2019–20, the Agency reported seven incidents to Comcare pursuant to section 38 of the WHS Act. Three incidents were later deemed not notifiable by Comcare, and each incident was closed by Comcare without further action being required of the Agency.
