The role of the National Competition Council (Council) is to make recommendations concerning access to infrastructure services under the National Access Regime prescribed in Part IIIA of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (CCA) and recommendations and decisions under the National Gas Law (NGL).

This annual report covers the Council’s work during the 2018-19 financial year (2018-19).

Chapter 1 provides the President’s review of significant issues, events and actions relevant to the Council during 2018-19.

Chapter 2 reports on the work undertaken by the Council during 2018-19 in its role of making recommendations to Ministers on applications for declaration and certification under Part IIIA of the CCA and on matters pursuant to the NGL. The chapter also reports on the National Access Regime as required by s 29O of the CCA, and summarises the Council’s performance against its key performance measures contained in the Portfolio Budget Statements 2018-19 and Corporate Plan 2018-19.

Chapter 3 discusses the Council’s governance arrangements.

Chapter 4 contains the Council’s audited financial statements for 2018-19.
