Section 39 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) requires Commonwealth entities prepare an annual performance statement as part of their annual report. The intention is to provide a clear link between the planned and actual non-financial performance for the financial year; as outlined in the Environment and Energy Portfolio Budget Statements 2019–20 (PBS) and the Director of National Parks Corporate Plan 2019–23.

Introductory statement

I, James Larsen, as the accountable authority of Director of National Parks, present the 2019–20 annual performance statements of the Director of National Parks, as required under paragraph 39(1)(a) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013. In my opinion, these annual performance statements are based on properly maintained records, accurately reflect the performance of the entity, and comply with subsection 39(2) of the Act.
