Dear Ministers,

I am pleased to present the Department of Home Affairs 2019–20 Annual Report for the reporting period ending 30 June 2020, as required by subsection 46(1) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

The report has been prepared pursuant to the requirements for annual reports approved by the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit, and as prescribed in the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule).

I, the Secretary, as the Accountable Authority, certify that the Department has prepared fraud and corruption risk assessments and a fraud and corruption control plan that comply with the requirements of section 10 of the PGPA Rule. The Department and the ABF have fraud prevention, detection, investigation, reporting and data collection procedures and processes in place that align with the requirements of the Commonwealth Fraud Control Framework 2017.

I have taken all reasonable measures to minimise the incidence of fraud within the Department and the ABF, and to investigate and recover the proceeds of fraud against the Department.

Yours sincerely
