On 23 November 2017 Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull launched the White Paper—a comprehensive framework to advance Australia’s security and prosperity over the coming decade. In releasing the White Paper, the government reaffirmed the department’s critical role in providing strategic direction, leadership and policy coherence across an expanding foreign policy agenda.
