Statement by the accountable authority

I, as the accountable authority of the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, present the 2019-20 annual performance statements of the department, as required under paragraph 39(1)(a) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.The Administrative Arrangements Order of 5 December 2019 transferred responsibility for employment and skills functions to the former Department of Education. The formation of the Department of Education Skills and Employment took effect on 1 February 2020.Under section 17J(4) of Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014, the information about the former entity's performance of the transferred function or functions must be included in the annual performance statements for the reporting entity. The annual performance statements have been prepared on this basis.In my opinion, these annual performance statements are based on properly maintained records, accurately reflect the performance of the entity, and comply with subsection 39(2) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.Dr Michele Bruniges AMSecretary24 September 2020
