To continually enhance the safety and reliability of Australia’s rail network, ARTC has invested more than $7 billion over the past 15 years to deliver key transport infrastructure projects that have bolstered our network and the national economy.

We manage the transit of around 450 freight and passenger trains per day on our network, including freight trains up to 1,800m long that can haul up to 260 shipping containers. This reduces congestion on our roads and highways, supports our environment, and improves safety for motorists across the country.

Committed to the health and safety of our people and the communities in which we operate, ARTC continues to build new rail projects throughout Australia, including the 1,700km Inland Rail project currently underway to enable 24-hour transit between Melbourne and Brisbane.
