Recovering wages and entitlements

  • $1,117,330 recovered for 1,741 employees, from 89 employers, including:
    • $761,716 recovered for 1,651 employees from 67 employers as a result of proactive audits undertaken by the ABCC
    • $355,613 in unpaid wages for 90 employees from 22 employers as a result of 53 investigations commenced by the ABCC
  • $76,680 in penalties imposed in two wages related cases
  • 165 new wage audits commenced and 186 wage audits finalised

Monitoring building code compliance

  • Assisted industry with building code issues on 5,007 occasions, including:
    • 2,817 building code enquiries responded to
    • 1,640 enterprise agreements and 125 sets of individual clauses, assessed in an average time for each agreement assessment of 2.0 weeks and an average time of three days for individual clauses
    • 425 workplace relations management plans assessed with assessment times reduced from 10 to an average of three business days
  • 156 building code audits and 146 building code inspections commenced and 160 building code audits and 171 inspections finalised

Addressing non-compliance

  • 162 new investigations commenced and 147 investigations finalised
  • 22 proceedings finalised, plus 37 matters currently before the courts (as at 30 June 2020)
  • 95 per cent success rate in proceedings finalised, with 21 successful cases out of a total of 22
  • $2,034,005 in penalties imposed by the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court
  • $57,000 in personal payment orders imposed against seven individuals in five proceedings
